Technology has become a part of our everyday lives. And yet, many of us do not fully understand the devices we use on a daily basis. With science and technology changing at lightning speeds, how can we ever keep up?

While it may be impossible for one person to stay informed about every single thing, it is possible (and important!) to keep up in the areas that interest you the most. Every piece of knowledge helps ensure that you are not only comfortable using your devices, but that you are utilizing them in a way that improves your daily life. And luckily, staying updated is easier than you might think. By following these 4 easy steps, you can become a master of your technology.

Step #1: Dedicate Time Daily

If you want to master your technology, you need to dedicate time learning about it every single day. This doesn’t mean that you have to spend hours a day reading complicated manuals. It means that you make sure you incorporate some new piece of technology information into your life every single day. We’ll show you how in the next couple of steps.

Step #2: Sign Up For Newsletters

Websites like CNET, Wired, Engadget and PC world provide news and reviews about various technological gadgets (such as computers, mobile phones, desktops, laptops, and more). Since weeding through the different sites can be overwhelming, sign up for the site’s newsletter so that you get the headlines delivered directly to your inbox. This way you can pick and choose which articles you want to read. On many of the sites, you can even choose which subjects you want to them to send you information on.

Looking for an even easier fix? Sign up for the Bask newsletter. We send out helpful information on all of your devices, and even send out a weekly Friday Linkapalooza that keeps you informed on the week’s most interesting tech headlines.

Step #3: Go to the Store

The best way to familiarize yourself with tech is to actually try it out. When you have some free time, head to your nearest Target, Best Buy, Apple Store, or others and spend some time trying out the different items on display. Most stores have devices out that allow you to try out a limited number of programs. And who knows, you may just find a new device that you simply can’t live without.

Step #4: Make Some Techie Friends

Making friends with people who love technology can greatly increase your own technology skills. Not only do they generally have an inside scoop on all the latest devices, but they can usually answer any questions you have about the tech you are currently using. If you don’t have any techie friends nearby, then make friends with your Bask Technology Advisor. Our advisors are always standing by to help educate you on all your favorite devices and programs.

If you dedicate a little bit of time everyday to read some technology news, play with a new device, or talk to your technology-loving friend, you will be amazed at how quickly you become a master of your technology. And more up-to-date you are today, the more ready you will be for whatever the technology field has in store for you tomorrow.
