At Bask, everything is about our members. Our memberships and services are built to help people just like you to improve their lives. And, every once in a while, we find ourselves trying to save one.

Recently one of our members, Susan, was having difficulty posting photos to her Facebook account. She called Bask for help, and was soon chatting with one of our experienced Technology Advisors, Gerri.

Gerri talked Susan through her problem and soon discovered that Susan needed to scan her photos before posting them. A few minutes later, Gerri found that Susan's scanner wasn't working properly. But before they could get any further, the call was dropped.

Gerri had an inkling that something was wrong. She knew that Susan was elderly -- 72 years old, to be exact -- so she quickly called her back. Susan answered and apologized; she also informed Gerri she was not feeling her best.

The two continued to work on Susan's scanner issue when their call was dropped a second time. Gerri again called Susan back, but this time, her call went to voicemail. Because she was still connected to Susan's computer remotely, Gerri posted a message on Susan's computer screen, asking if she was all right. This was soon followed by a second message. No response. Gerri then played music to get Susan's attention, but to no avail.

Gerri had a gut feeling that something was wrong -- really, really wrong. She searched online for the emergency services in Susan's area. Soon after, the police and paramedics were dispatched to Susan's home.

For the rest of the day, Gerri was still thinking about Susan. Another phone call notified her that Susan had been hospitalized. Gerri would discover later from Susan's family that Susan had a heart attack. It was Gerri's quick thinking that helped Susan get the medical assistance she needed.

Sadly, Susan passed away shortly after her interaction with Gerri. Her family called Gerri to personally thank her for her assistance. Because of Gerri's thoughtful actions, Susan's family was able to be with her and say their last good-byes.

Our Bask family mourns the loss of Susan, and we wish her loved ones the best in this difficult time.

Gerri, thank you for going the extra mile. We're proud to call you one of our own.
