People around the world are receiving their new iPhone 4S today. The device sold out as soon as Apple announced its preorder. This was no regular sell-out though; the company pre-sold 1 million phones in one day.

Selling a million phones in a day is an unprecedented record for the company. Fans of the product preordered so that it would be delivered to their homes, rather than having to go and wait in line outside a store.

On the other hand, there are many people who would never give up the feeling of waiting outside the Apple Store to get their iPhone on the first day it's available. People camp outside just to get their hands on the newest piece of technology before anyone else.

There are some analysts who expect Apple to sell upwards of 25 million iPhone 4S units in its first fiscal quarter. This is a 77% increase from the 14.1 million iPhones that Apple sold when they launched iPhone 4.

Only time will tell whether the iPhone 4S lives up to the buzz. As users activate and power up their new phones, we will hear consumer reports and whether it lives up to their expectations.
