How to Increase the Font Size in Your Web Browser

This tip is helpful if you want to:

  • increase font size in Chrome
  • increase font size in Firefox
  • increase font size in Internet Explorer
  • increase font size on a Mac (in Safari)

The Internet is a fabulous resource, and it's great to have whole books and periodicals at your fingertips. Sometimes, though, the text is so dang small.

Here's a little trick that may help you with this problem. It should work on just about any web browser on a PC or a Mac. If you want to increase the text size of an article you're reading online, hold the Control key, located in the bottom corner of your keyboard, and tap the Plus key (+), located at the upper right, near your Backspace key. As long as you hold down Control, each tap of the Plus key will incrementally increase the size of the text in your browser window.

On the other hand, if you want to make the text in your browser window smaller, hold the Control key and tap the Minus key (-) to take things down. Simple as that!

If you have an Apple Mac computer, don't use the Control key. Instead, hold down the Command key beside your spacebar, and tap the Plus key (+) incrementally until the text onscreen is the size you like.
